Meta ads
How many ad creatives do you need for Meta ads?
By the QuickScaled team · · 3 min read
Ask ten media buyers how many ads you need and you'll get ten answers. The honest answer is that it depends on how much you spend, how many products you push and how quickly your audience gets bored. But you can still plan it, and most D2C brands in India are testing far fewer new ads than their budget can support.
Why ads stop working
Every time someone sees the same ad, it's a little less interesting. As your budget grows, Meta shows each ad to the same people more often, and results slide: the cost per purchase rises while the click rate falls. This is called creative fatigue, and the only real fix is fresh ads.
Meta's Advantage+ campaigns also do most of the targeting for you now. That leaves the ad itself as the main lever you control. The ad does the targeting: a gifting angle finds gift buyers, and a price angle finds bargain hunters.
A simple planning rule
We plan for roughly one new ad for every ₹25,000 of monthly Meta spend, with a minimum of four a month, plus one extra for each additional product you promote. It's a starting point, not a law. Brands in fast-moving categories like fashion often need more.
- ₹1 lakh a month on one product: about 4 new ads a month
- ₹2.5 lakh a month across three products: about 12
- ₹10 lakh a month across five products: about 44

What counts as a new ad
Changing the button colour doesn't count. A new ad changes something a viewer would notice in the first three seconds:
- A different angle, such as gifting instead of self-purchase
- A different opening hook on the same video
- A different format, such as a creator-style video instead of a product demo
- A different offer or reason to buy now
- A different language, such as Hinglish instead of English
How to split videos and statics
Reels and Stories carry most of the reach on Meta in India, so video should be a large share of your new ads. Statics and carousels are still worth testing because they're quick to make, and they often win for offers, bundles and products that sell on looks. A split of roughly 40% video and 60% static is a reasonable start; let your results move it.
How to test without wasting budget
- Test new ads in a separate campaign or ad set so they don't compete with your proven winners for budget.
- Give each ad enough spend to judge it. A common rule is about two to three times your target cost per purchase.
- Judge the first seconds by how many viewers stop scrolling, and the whole ad by cost per purchase.
- Move winners into your main campaign and make new versions of them.
When the volume is the problem
If your team can't make enough new ads to keep up with your spend, results will slide no matter how good your targeting is. That's the gap our AI ad creative service fills: a steady batch of new ads every month, in every Meta format, ready to test.
Common questions
- How often should I refresh Meta ads?
- When results slide for the same ad, it's time. Most growing D2C brands should launch new ads every week or two, not every few months.
- Should I turn off an ad that's still working?
- No. Keep winners running and add new ads alongside them. Replace an ad only when its cost per purchase rises past your target.
